The Jerusalem Princess Basms Center is part of a National Referral / Resource rehabilitation / educational network that ensures continued support for children with special needs as well as those of their families.
It was established in 1965 as a home for children with physical disabilities. In the beginning of 1999 the provision of highly specialized services for the hearing impaired children of East Jerusalem and training opportunities for the disabled adults of East Jerusalem was started by a team of experts.
The center services include treating, rehabilitating and educating those with special needs and it also includes aiming for a fundamental modification in the attitude of the Palestinian society towards special needs persons.
With the assistance of professionals, the local community and of course, with the help of donations, they are able to run the following projects:
- The Mothers Empowerment Program
- The Out Reach Program
- The Sheltered Workshop
- The Autism Unit
- The Coordination between East Jerusalem Hospitals
- Medical Research
- The Home Safety Study
- Construction Projects
